General Introduction of Myopia
In recent years, the situation of myopia has become more and more serious. The number of its people has increased sharply. Around the world nearly all countries and cities have this problem of myopia. This situation is very prominent in the developing countries. And the situation in the Asian is more serious than in the European. The rate of bifocals development in Asian countries is about 70%-90%; while that are 30%-40% in American and the European countries. Moreover myopia of woman is more serious than man — myopia of woman is two times as that of man.
How does the myopia form? How does it increase so rapid?
Myopia is one kind of ocular disease that caused by incorrect refraction. Under the premise of static refraction, the distant object cannot gather in the retina, but form focal point in front of retina, thus cause the vision to distort, and make the distant object to be slurred. Often, people first form the pseudo-myopia. Pseudo-myopia is one kind of myopia, which is also called the adjustment bifocals. Look or read for a long time causes ocular adjustment not to relax, and excessive eyestrain leads to pseudo-myopia. There is an essential difference between pseudo-myopia and real-myopia that for pseudo-myopia, people also have the opportunity to return their vision to normal strength as long as pay attention to wise use of eyes and develop a good habit of reading and writing.
The formation of myopia can be attributed to two major reasons. One is hereditary factor, the other is environmental influence. Many researches show that myopia is also a hereditary disease. This hereditary factor mainly refers to people who have quite high vision strength. These people commonly inherit their myopia to their children. Generally, if parents are high myopia, the rate of nearsightedness is quite high for next generation. But such persons are certainly in the minority. Hence, the hereditary factor has to some extent influence on bifocals.
Meanwhile, the environmental influence is the main cause for myopia and its sharp development. Such environmental influence includes improper use of eyes and the bad habits of reading and writing, such as reading under the insufficient light, reading laying the bed, reading on the bus and so on. Therefore, if people want to have a good vision, they should pay a little attention to the daily habits and constantly correct the wrong postures.
In addition, the myopia often occurs during the teenager period because the growth of teenager is much rapid and important than any of other period, and most of habits are developed in this period. So bad habits of reading and writing directly affect teenager’s growth and health.
Therefore, if you want to have a pair of bright eyes, protect your eyes at once!
